Brown fused Alumina is made by smelting calcined bauxite in an electric arc furnace at temperatures greater than 2000'C. The materials is then slowly solidified to crate blocky crystals. It is used for a variety of applications, including:

- Blasting : a recyclable abrasive used in blast cabinets and blast oom to remove scale rust and old coatings. It is also used for surface hardening.

- Grinding : Brown fused alumina is used in ceramic grinding wheels and for polishing and grinding. 
- Refractories : Brown fused alumina is used in refractory applications.
- Flooring : Brown fused alumina is used in industrial floors.
- Stone Industry : brown fused alumina is used in the stone industry and in renovation on monuments.

How's it Made

 

Brown Fuse Alumina BFA  is made by smelting calcined bauxite , carbon and iron fillings in an electric arc furnace at high temperature. 
 

1. Mix raw materials: The raw materials are mixed in the correct proportions. 
    
    
2. Fuse and smelt: The raw materials are fused and smelted in an electric arc furnace at a temperature of over 2,200° C. 
    
    
3. Cool and crush: The fused BFA is cooled and crushed into large lumps, then crushed further into smaller sizes.

The fusion process is the most important step in the manufacturing of BFA, as it determines the purity and hardness of the final product. During fusion, the iron settles at the bottom of the furnace, the carbon rises to the surface, and the aluminum oxide remains in the middle
