Product Description

Product Description

GI wire, also known as galvanized iron wire, is a type of wire made by coating a carbon steel wire with zinc. The zinc coating acts as a barrier to protect the steel wire from rust and corrosion. The process of applying the zinc coating is called galvanization, which is why it is called galvanized iron wire. GI Wire is cut and then used to tie steel bar structures (like rebar cages and stirrups) in place before pouring concrete. Its bendable nature makes it easy to make knots around steel bars. Recommended sizes are #16. Rust prevention: Does galvanized wire rust? Galvanized wire is highly resistant to rust because of the protective zinc coating that keeps moisture away from the steel beneath. Damage resistance: A galvanized coating is solid and robust, protecting the wire from chipping, scratching and cutting.

Estimate Binding Wires for Tying Rebars
We use binding wires to tie the rebars. It is very important to estimate binding wires for tying rebars besides estimating of steel quantity for different members to order the correct quantity of steel. There is a method to calculate the quantity of  binding wires and at first you should know there is no formula for calculating binding wires. We use thumb rules as per construction industry in order to calculate the quantity of binding wires. The quantity of binding wires depends on the type of structure and type of bar.

Binding Wires for Tying Rebars
For rebar tie wire estimate apply thumb rules,

Binding wires needed for 1 quintal (100 kg) of steel reinforcement = 0.9 to 1.3 kg

Binding wires needed for 1 ton (1000 kg) of steel reinforcement = 9 to 13 kg

Therefore the binding wire required for tying 1000 kg of 8mm bars is about 12 kg and for 28 mm or 32 mm bars is approximately 7 kg. We came to the conclusion that greater the diameter of the bar, lesser the quantiy of binding wire. We can estimate binding wires for tying rebars by using thumb rules.
